Meet Jakub Struczynski – Student Of The Month

Some learning experiences may be challenging, but they prove their worth on the go. Learning Data Science is one of those journeys. Jakub Struczynski, a student at our Data Science Bootcamp, managed to go above and beyond and successfully overcome every challenge on the way.

How can a Data Science Bootcamp boost your problem-solving mindset and attention to detail, and why hard work always pays off? Jakub shares the answers below.

Jakub, tell us a bit about yourself. What were you doing before you came to Brainster?

I was getting my Master’s degree in Material Science and Engineering. Also, I was working as a project manager for a certification company. However, I decided to make a career turn and, from the perspective of time, I have to say it was a good move!

What is your typical day in Brainster’s Data Science Bootcamp?

It starts at 6 PM. Sometimes, I wish I had more time to focus on the learning material, but I am busy working in the field of data science at my daily work, thanks to Brainster also :). Whenever I have time after the lecture, I find time to google things that caught my attention.

Since the Bootcamp is remote, how do you collaborate with your colleagues and instructors?

I keep in touch with colleagues, mainly using tools like Slack, but also communicating via LinkedIn. For attending the lectures, we use Zoom because it gives us many options for interaction.

What is the first thing you remember from the first class of the Data Science Bootcamp?

I remember the Docker setup instructions. It was quite some struggle at the beginning. 🙂

Did you have any coding experience before applying to Data Science Bootcamp?

I was already doing some coding with Python by watching Udemy courses.

Since you started learning at the Bootcamp, what has been the most challenging thing so far?

It took me some effort to get through some probabilistic theories. Luckily, the instructors helped us understand the processes going in the background of Machine Learning.

“Jakub has put consistent effort into learning and developing himself and applying what he has learned in his real-life projects. I’m confident that he will finish the course successfully and get the opportunity to develop himself further and contribute significantly in the field of Machine Learning.“
–  Viktor Domazetoski, Machine Learning Instructor at Brainster’s Data Science Bootcamp

What is the area in Data Science that you have set out to master?

Machine Learning is the holy grail of it all. It is the final implementation of data knowledge and brings real added value to the table.

Any last bits of advice that you would give to future students who want to break into Data Science?

Do it ASAP! If You want to get into Data Science, you will have to learn many things at the beginning, but it will be worth it!

The enrollment for the next Data Science Bootcamp is in progress! The interest is too high and the number of places limited, so make sure you save your slot on time!
