Brainster students are startling individuals.
That’s why each month Brainster shines a spotlight on one of the students, who are working hard to realise their dreams and ambitious career goals.
The Student of the Month is the one that has achieved exceptional success at the Brainster Bootcamp.
The student that triumphs the month: has a creative approach to working on real-life projects; takes responsibility for completing the tasks assigned by the instructors on time; attends and actively participates in classes.

Meet Svjetlana Zajec – a student at the UX/UI Design Bootcamp at Brainster, and a Student Spotlight for July 2021.
Who would best describe Svjetlana if not those with whom she constantly collaborates, such as the UX design Bootcamp instructor, Catarina Ribeiro:
“Svjetlana has shown a strong aptitude for user interface design. During the course of this module she mastered some of the UI principles that any designer should take into account: visual consistency, familiar language, usage of real-world conventions, error prevention and aesthetic balance. She understands complex concepts and she’s quick to come up with different solutions to solve the same problem. Furthermore, she’s very open to feedback while still capable of advocating for her ideas and solutions.”
Meet Svjetlana!
Brainster: What is your secret sauce when it comes to learning?
Svjetlana:
– don’t go into too much detail, stick to the basics
– show the best of yourself even in moments when you are unsure
– listen carefully, write down things and if you are able to repeat, do it, because Repetition is the mother of all knowledge, and
– don’t be afraid to ask questions because there are no stupid questions
Brainster: What was something that you are proud to have achieved during the Focus on Visual Design module?
Svjetlana:
– I learned a lot of theories that helped me in practice,
– I learned that feedback is extremely important no matter where it comes from, and
– I learned that inspiration and ideas can come from research before you even get to the designing part.
Brainster: What would you say offered the best learning experience and support for you in this module?
Svjetlana: The guidance of a professional, the mentor I had in this module has a very strong focus on UX, I noticed that for her, the user and the functionality of the product are the most important criteria that need to be completed with good design rules.
Brainster: Can you paint us a wordily picture of how did you feel at the start of the unit vs. at the end?
Svjetlana: There was a lot of theory in the beginning and it was exhausting for me. But at the end of the module, I went back to parts of the theory and listened to recordings that related to design guidelines and rules.
At the end of the module, I felt that I paid a lot of attention to the tasks, starting from the basics, theory, inspiration, all the way to the final results, with which I am very satisfied.
Brainster: Can you share one thing that you are most proud of achieving?
Svjetlana: I learned what it’s like to work in a team under pressure and be awake until 3 in the morning to finish a project in the best possible way. Proud that I have found the strength to get up on Saturday morning and present the same project.
Brainster: Any last bits of advice that you would give to potential students who want to break into UX/UI Design in 2021?
Svjetlana: Be willing to invest a lot of time, get out of your comfort zone, be flexible and cooperate. Prepare notes and write down whatever you arrive at, don’t be ashamed to ask and listen carefully. Your time and effort will pay off.
Brainster: We are proud of you, too, Svjetlana! Thank you for all the dedication and tireless efforts.
