A group of students from the UX/UI Design Bootcamp put their knowledge into practice by working 48 hours on a real project and completed a hackathon. 🔥
They competed with each other, saw what it is like to work under pressure, and used the knowledge gained so far from the Bootcamp.
The pressure was even greater because the final projects were presented to a committee, composed of companies from the Tech industry: Slice, Devsy, Enterprise League, Altius.
Find out what happened in these two days of uninterrupted work.
According to the hackathon’s conditions, the participants were divided, into four teams with four members. The teams started working on Friday at 18:00, immediately after the brief given by the Learning partner. Their task was to complete the project within 48 hours, which involved designing a “Marketing Map”.
The hackathon continued for two whole days under the mentorship of the instructors, Jane, Blagojce and Dijana. Mentors were available for ongoing consultation and helped students complete the challenge!
Mentors: Dijana Dimitrievska, Jane Naumovski, Blagojche Kuzeski
From firsthand, we will tell you in a few steps how the process went, and we will try to convey the atmosphere of the hackathon.
Work of 48 hours started
First, after the opening of the hackathon, each of the teams conducted interviews with the client, to gather more information about his needs and expectations. After the given feedback, each of the teams worked on their marketing map.
To have a successful final presentation, each of the teams had to make a presentation that included a brief, client interviews, suggestions and innovations to the client, as well as testing along with the final solution.
Because the teams of this hackathon were working on a real project that was intended for digital marketers, as product testers involved were experienced marketers from marketing agencies and freelancers: Iva from Brand Union, Iva from Division, Trajko from Pixel and many others.
Testers: Iva Dujak, Iva Jakovcevska, Trajko Dјikov
Presentations before the commission
The atmosphere heated up on Sunday at 6 pm, when the teams presented their final decisions to the committee. The 6-member commission was composed of CEOs, HR staff and UX designers from the Learning Partner companies. The mentors were not allowed to vote.
Companies involved in the hackathon
After the presentation of each team, the members of the commission had the opportunity to ask questions. The Q&A time was important for the committee, so they could find out how the team was defending its product and how well they handle different situations.
Presentation of Team 3
It was really difficult to choose the winner because each of the teams was unique in its way and offered different solutions.
According to the rules, the commission declared Team 2 for the winner, consisted of Marija, Zorana, Anastasia and Dragan. The team will continue to work on the development of this real product together with the students of the Coding Bootcamp.
The winning team – Team 2
All team members were deeply committed to the challenge and put a lot of effort. It’s commendable, the 48-hour work of the students. They worked hard and came to the final result after only four months of studying at the Bootcamp.
The whole Brainster team is proud to praise the students who uncompromisingly invest in what they want to do. They have a great passion for the profession and do not succumb to challenges. The persistence they possess will be one of the key features, that will help them become successful UX/UI designers.
Huge thanks to the commission members and the companies that gave us their trust and support. Without them, we could not have realized this hackathon. It’s a confirmation and motivation for everyone that the companies believe in dedicated talents who strive and do their best to learn something new and upgrade their skills!
