Meet Tomislav Petrović – Brainster’s student of the month for November 2021

It’s always a tough call to pick the student of the month, with so many ambitious and creative minds trying to maximize the potential of their skills.

This month, Tomislav Petrović, a student at our UX/UI Design Bootcamp, stood out from the crowd because of how far he challenges himself and shows that everything is possible if you are fully committed to it.

What is your secret sauce when it comes to learning?

Motivation is something that is the basis for any kind of learning. I need to like it to learn it. Also, I need to see how what I’m learning is improving me, in any way, intellectually, emotionally, physically, and so on. It has to fit in my life goals too.

Also, keeping a positive mindset and trying to see opportunities in any challenge keeps me away from giving up on something I enjoy myself doing or learning.

What were you proud to have achieved during the UX Overview & Methodology module?

I’m proud that, although some parts of the module were pretty challenging because, in some moments, I was stuck and didn’t know how to continue with my work, I managed somehow to get through it. Finding out that we can all be creative in what we do is very encouraging for me.

What things guided you to generate the best learning experience and support in this module?

Working on concrete projects and collaborating with peers and our instructor’s guidance based on his rich knowledge and experience, all merged together, offered me a great learning experience.

Can you paint us a word picture of how you felt at the start of the unit vs. at the end?

Since this was the start of the UX/UI Design Bootcamp, I didn’t know what and how everything would look like, especially the tasks for projects.

I had some fears, even doubts about whether I’d be able to manage to work on projects that were totally different from what I was doing so far in my career. After this unit, I feel more comfortable and at ease, knowing that I’ll be able to do it.

Can you share one thing you are most proud of achieving during this Bootcamp?

I am proud I decided to choose this new career path, giving myself a chance to enjoy what I’ll be doing for a living.

Any last bits of advice that you would give to potential students who want to break into UX/UI Design in 2022?

Learning user experience design can be of great use to you, no matter your occupation or education. It can be something you can apply in your current or future job or as a different approach to projects you’re working on. All you need is a comprehensive UX/UI Design Bootcamp.

Damjan Obal, an instructor at Brainster’s UX/UI Design Bootcamp, explains why Tomislav is the right person to receive the recognition for the student of the month:

“It was a very tough call to pick one, but Tomislav stands out because of how far he goes to challenge himself and his contribution to make peer learning work.”
